Recently I had the pleasure of hosting some collegues in town from the Virginia-DC area and they of course looked to me for advice on a dinner locale near their hotel. After some research of the scene and options, I offered up a list off five options and the group settled on Elements Contemporary Cuisine.
The group had an array of great options served to them. Everything from salmon to gnocchi to steak. But the highlight of my meal was the approach to serving meats and cheeses before the appetizers. The waitress brilliantly referred the charcuterie ordering as “sushi-style” where you are provided with a list of possible options and you, the diner, select the quantity and composition of your meat and cheese plate. All of the meats and cheeses are cured in-house by the Mid-Atlantic Food and Wine The People’s Best New Chef nominee, chef Justin Severino.
Although the meal did require a slightly hefty wallet to cover the cost, the meal was very good and may be a nice location for a future celebration restaurant – because you do have to treat yourselves to something special every now and then.
